Imagining and Rebuilding Movements: Women's Rights and HIV/AIDS in West Africa
Between May 13-16, 2008 ActionAid International (AAI) and African Women's Development Fund (AWDF) hosted women living with HIV/AIDS and other activists from 7 countries in West Africa (Liberia, Nigeria, Senegal, Cameroon, Sierra Leon, The Gambia and Ghana) in Freetown, Sierra Leon. The purpose of this convening was to build movements on women's rights and HIV/AIDS in West Africa. Most of the participants of this convening work in their communities to provide support to women living with HIV/AIDS and to raise awareness of the virus.
