Making a Difference Beyond Numbers: Towards Women's Substantive Engagement in Political Leadership in Uganda
This study picks from the realization that world over the campaign for women's participation in public life has taken several years, with some of the outcomes reflected in international human rights frameworks and national efforts. However the actual transformation in the lives of women has been painstakingly slow. It also acknowledges that as the numbers of women in politics increase in many parts of the world, it has become more evident than ever that the strategy of getting women into formal political spaces is only part of what it takes to transform political decision making. It calls for diverse strategic engagements that might include bringing about changes in political systems to make women genuinely inclusive.
