The Extractives Industry (EL) impacts both positively and negatively on economic, social, and environment issues. Positively oil, gas and mining projects create jobs. On a gendered scale, EL impacts differently on men and women and evidence increasingly demonstrates that women are more vulnerable to the risks of the industry meager access to the benefits that accrue due to their limited involvement. Yet their participation will not only leverage their untapped potential in contributing to the growth of the industry, leading to poverty reduction and the fostering of positive conditions for sustainable development, but will also maximize their effective input into the development of the oil, gas and mining operations for the benefit of communities and countries as a whole.
